Earlier this year, Ed Sheeran released his new album, Subtract. Now, he’s preparing to release another LP, Autumn Variations, later this month. Recently, Sheeran performed as the opening act for John Mayer at his Heart And Armor Foundation concert in Los Angeles. During his performance, Sheeran surprised fans by performing a few unexpected covers, including an acoustic version of 50 Cent’s “In Da Club.” 50 Cent himself approved of the performance and shared a video of it on his Instagram.
The reaction to Sheeran’s cover was mixed. Some fans loved it and praised Sheeran’s ability to make any song his own with his acoustic guitar. Others were more skeptical, questioning what they were hearing. However, Busta Rhymes showed his approval by commenting with a series of fire emojis.
In addition to performing unexpected covers, Sheeran has been promoting his upcoming album in unique ways. He recently worked as a barista at Starbucks and has been hosting surprise performances in fans’ living rooms.
Autumn Variations is set to be released on September 29th via Gingerbread Man/Atlantic Records. More information can be found on Ed Sheeran’s website.
