Large Sean will give back to his HBCU communities in a significant way following the announcement earlier in the week that he’ll be offering $100,000 in scholarships for students in college.

The Detroit native joined forces in partnership with Thurgood Marshall College Fund as well as Ally’s Moguls in the Making, who held a competition in which 60 students were chosen for their presentations that included “solutions to socioeconomic challenges in underserved communities.”

“After being involved with the development and launch of Moguls in the Making four years ago, I’m grateful that we’re bringing it back and continuing to give HBCU students the opportunity to see how their business ideas can come to life,” Big Sean stated in an interview (via Essence).

“I’m so proud of the work TMCF, Ally and the Sean Anderson Foundation have done to empower Black students and the next generation of leaders.”

This $100,000 scholarship were 15 teams consisting of four students. They created business plans to aid the Charlotte community.

Students from Morehouse College and Morgan State University were given an internship during the summer months in partnership with Ally and the team that won was awarded a further $25,000 cash prize.

It’s the fourth time for the competition that rewards entrepreneurs since the Big Sean’s Sean Anderson Foundation teamed up with Ally for the first time in the year 2019.

“I also was trying to figure out a way to work with HBCUs — so many of my family members and so many beautiful people that I know have gone to HBCUs — and I’m like, Okay, we can never downplay or overlook HBCUs because they are creating the leaders of tomorrow for real, and they are Black [leaders], you know all things aside we got to always show love to the HBCUs,” Sean added (via Yahoo!).

Sean has been active in charitable work. He donated a recording studio of $100,000 for the Detroit Boys & Girls Club in the year 2019 and also donated $1000 towards Flint, Michigan to aid in easing the water shortage.

On the other hand, music-wise, Big Sean celebrated the 10th anniversary of the Detroit mixtape in September by releasing the iconic project to streaming services.
