The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) are set to be a spectacular event. On August 22, the event organizers revealed an impressive lineup of performers, including Lil Wayne, Demi Lovato, Stray Kids, and others, with the promise of more to come. It was later announced on September 8 that Nicki Minaj would not only host the event but also perform.

However, the announcements didn’t stop there. On September 9, the VMAs’ official X (formerly Twitter) page shared that Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion would also be performing at the event. The post excitedly announced, “THIS IS NOT A DRILL: @IAMCARDIB & @THEESTALLION ARE PERFORMING AT THE 2023 #VMAS,” and urged fans not to miss their first-ever performance of ‘Bongos’ on Tuesday at 8p on MTV.

The pair’s previous performance at the Grammys, where they performed their hit single “WAP,” took the internet by storm, and their upcoming performance is expected to do the same.

While Taylor Swift and SZA have the most VMA nominations this year, Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion are also in the running for several awards. Cardi B’s collaborative track “Tomorrow 2” with GloRilla has been nominated in the Best Hip-Hop category. Megan Thee Stallion has received three nominations for Best Direction, Best Choreography, and Best Art Direction for her song “Her.”

The 2023 MTV VMAs will be held on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT on MTV. Viewers can watch the event live on or Paramount+. More information can be found here.
