Rapper ASAP Rocky, known for his hit “Riot (Rowdy Pipe’n)”, is currently spending time with his partner, music icon Rihanna, as they celebrate the birth of their second child. However, this peaceful period may be interrupted as Rocky, whose real name is Rakim Mayers, may soon be heading to court.

Rolling Stone reports that Mayers and his lawyer, Joe Tacopina, have been named in a defamation lawsuit. The lawsuit pertains to several public comments made by or on behalf of the two about Mayers’ ongoing felony assault case from November 2021, which are allegedly harmful.

The plaintiff in the case is the alleged victim and former ASAP Mob member Terell Ephron, also known as ASAP Relli. Ephron and his lawyer, Camille Vasquez, have accused Mayers and Tacopina of slander and making false statements to the media. One such comment was made by Tacopina to Rolling Stone, where he suggested that Ephron’s civil lawsuit over the reported shooting was a money grab and called the incident a “false scenario”.

Vasquez has stressed that these comments could harm Ephron’s reputation and personal brand, as well as his standing in the community as a member of A$AP Mob. This could potentially lead to a loss of future earnings. The lawsuit seeks punitive or exemplary damages in addition to Ephron’s legal costs.

Mayers’ preliminary hearing is set for November 8.
