The 2023 MTV Video Music Awards, set to take place in New Jersey on Sept. 12, are just a week away. In anticipation of the event, the organizers have announced some of the major award recipients. Among them is Diddy, who will be honored with the Global Icon Award this year.
The Global Icon Award, which was first introduced at the MTV Europe Music Awards, is intended to recognize artists who have achieved global success. Diddy, who hosted the EMAs back in 2002, is a fitting recipient of this award.
Diddy will officially accept the honor and deliver a speech at the awards show next week. In addition to this, he will also perform at the VMAs, marking his first major stage performance since 2005, as reported by Variety.
Diddy has also been nominated for several other awards this year, including Best Collaboration and Best R&B for his “Creepin (Remix)” with Metro Boomin, The Weeknd, and 21 Savage. He has received double nominations for collaborations, with his “Gotta Move On (Queens Remix)” featuring Bryson Tiller, Ashanti, and Yung Miami also earning a nomination. Furthermore, he is nominated for Best Hip-Hop for the same “Gotta Move On” song. Voting for these categories has now closed.
The Video Music Awards will be broadcast live from the Prudential Center at 8 p.m. ET on Tuesday, Sept. 12. Fans are eagerly awaiting the event.
