On August 29, Doja Cat unveiled the cover art for her forthcoming album, Scarlet. Although some fans were skeptical about the authenticity of the cover due to Doja’s history of changing her mind about the project, the same image was found on her official website, confirming its legitimacy. However, it was noticed that the artwork closely resembles the cover of another album, set to release on the same day as Scarlet.

Pop Crave highlighted that both Scarlet and metal band Chaver’s upcoming album, Of Gloom, feature spider paintings on their covers. Both albums are scheduled for release on September 22.

While there are minor differences between the two spider images, such as the shape and position of some legs and appendages and the shape of the fluid drop above the spider’s head, they appear to be two separate but remarkably similar pieces of art. The similarities extend to the fact that both covers were designed by the same artist, Dusty Ray. Both Chaver and Doja acknowledged Ray’s work in their respective announcement posts.

As of now, there has been no public comment from Doja, Chaver, or Ray regarding the resemblance between the two album covers.

Scarlet is set to be released on September 22 via Kemosabe Records/RCA Records. More details can be found on Doja Cat’s official website.
