While the 2024 presidential election remains just two years away there has been no stopping people from making speculations about potential presidential candidates. One of the speculations that have been long-shot is Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson who in the past hinted at the possibility of running for the presidency. But, he has recently stated that he would not be running in the 2024 presidential election.

When he spoke to Tracy Smith for CBS Sunday Morning, Johnson stated in clear and unambiguous words that a presidential bid of 2024 would be “off the table,” explaining that it would require the time off from the family. However, he did mention: “I love our country and all of us that is part of it. I also enjoy being a father. The most important thing for me — being a father. One of the most important things, especially during this the most crucial time for my girls’ lives because I understand how it felt to travel and so busy that I didn’t have time to be present for many years during the first year of my daughter’s … daily life. This is what the president would be doing.”

Johnson who was a supporter of Biden and Harris’s Biden and Harris campaign in 2020, continued the conversation in the form of his personal Instagram account with the interview details in which he wrote the following:

Really enjoyed and am grateful for the time I spent with my pal @thattracysmith and the @cbsSundaymorning We sat down and discussed many important topics such as running for president.

With the midterm elections just around the corner and a presidential race 2 years away I’ve been approached by those who are the most influential in politics on both sides in support of and requesting that I be a presidential candidate. It’s an humbling, gratifying and uplifting feeling to engage in these conversations as I’m not a politician , nor had I ever thought of wanting to become one. However, I’m a patriot to the core and cherish my country and everyone who is.

Being a father to my girls has been the greatest aspect of my life. It is my job to raise them and be there throughout these crucial years of their lives.

I’ve been there. not being present every day as a dad, due to a constant work schedule. I will not let this occur again. Preparing for the future with parenting instead of the presidency. I hope you guys will have fun watching our show next week in CBS Sunday Morning

The speculation first surfaced in 2020 , when he discussed the possibility in the Vanity Fairinterview. There is no confirmation on about whether or not Kanye West is going to take another shot at the presidency in 2024.
