Despite the unfavorable weather in Los Angeles over the past weekend, a significant event took place downtown. Earl Sweatshirt launched his Doris anniversary tour, marking the 10th year since his debut album was released. The event took place at The Novo at LA Live, where he was joined on stage by the founder and unofficial leader of the now-disbanded Odd Future group, Tyler The Creator.
The pair performed their 2013 hit “Whoa,” with Tyler leading the audience in a nostalgic chant of “G-O-L-F-dub-A-N-G.” Earl then encouraged the crowd to cheer for Odd Future.
Several other former members of Odd Future also made appearances on stage alongside the typically private rapper. These included Domo Genesis, who performed “20 Wave Caps,” and Vince Staples, who featured in “Hive.”
Backstage, it seemed like almost a complete Odd Future reunion with Earl, Tyler, Domo, and Vince posing for photos with Casey Veggies, Jasper Dolphin, L-Boy, Mike G, Syd, and Taco. The only members who appeared to be missing were Hodgy, Left Brain, and Matt Martians.
Many members of the crew are anticipated to perform at the upcoming return of Tyler’s Camp Flog Gnaw Carnival in November. Tyler will be headlining the event alongside SZA and The Hillbillies: Baby Keem and Kendrick Lamar.
