In July, Ed Sheeran surprised fans in Detroit by inviting Eminem, his childhood idol, to perform “Lose Yourself” during his Mathematics Tour show at Ford Field. On September 17, Eminem made another unexpected appearance in his hometown when 50 Cent was performing at Detroit’s Pine Knob Music Theatre as part of his ongoing The Final Lap Tour.

“Detroit, make some noise for one of the best friends I’ve ever known, 50 Cent!” Eminem shouted to the ecstatic crowd. He also acknowledged the 50th anniversary of hip-hop. The moment was captured in a video posted to Instagram by 50 Cent.

In the caption, 50 Cent wrote, “Bro when I do anything with EM people just go crazy they know he really my boy. I love him till death!”

50 Cent also shared a video of Eminem surprising the audience by walking onto the stage during “Patiently Waiting” from 50’s debut album, Get Rich Or Die Tryin’. This album is celebrating its 20th anniversary, which is the reason for The Final Lap Tour.

Eminem has previously referred to 50 Cent as “one of the best friends I’ve ever known in the world” during the unveiling of 50’s star on the Hollywood Walk Of Fame in January 2020. In 2021, Eminem portrayed White Boy Rick in Black Mafia Family, a show executive produced by 50 Cent. By February 2022, both artists were part of the Emmy-winning Super Bowl LVI Halftime Show alongside Dr. Dre, Mary J. Blige, Kendrick Lamar, and Snoop Dogg.

Earlier this year, 50 Cent hinted that he wanted to adapt Eminem’s 8 Mile for television. But first, he’ll have to complete The Final Lap Tour. The North American leg is set to end on September 22 in Toronto before the international dates start on September 28 in Amsterdam, Netherlands. The tour will conclude on December 14 in Auckland, New Zealand. All remaining dates can be found on 50 Cent’s website.
