Supporters of Megan Thee Stallion, the rapper known for her hit “Body,” have been vocal in their backing of her during the 2020 shooting case involving Tory Lanez. Lanez was found guilty and sentenced to a decade in prison last month. A documentary about the incident, set to air on Discovery Plus in the UK on September 4, has been announced.

The film, titled “Megan Thee Stallion VS Tory Lanez: Five Shots,” is being promoted as “the biggest case since O.J.” The trailer suggests that the documentary will present “two films, two sides.”

However, the documentary has faced backlash from fans who have taken to social media to criticize it as exploitative. One Twitter user commented, “y’all be so geeked to profit off of someone’s trauma for entertainment, weird.”

Another fan compared the documentary to Netflix’s “Depp V. Heard” and accused streaming platforms of capitalizing on women’s trauma. They argued that these studios “genuinely do not care about how amber and megan were dogpiled by the media just for being honest,” and even suggested that they promote such mistreatment.

As of now, only a trailer for UK streaming has been released online, following the merger of Discovery Plus with Max into a single platform. Max has not yet posted a trailer on any of their social media platforms. No announcement has been made regarding a U.S. air date or streaming date.
