Jerry when asked whether he thought he was as the “granddaddy of reality TV,” Jerry said, “No, I just apologize. I’m truly sorry. What did I do? I’ve destroyed the culture. I’m hoping hell won’t be too hot, because I’m really easily. I’m light-headed which kind of bothers me.” Although he’s among the top famous names in TV the past, he claims it was “just a guy who was fortunate” to work in the field of entertainment.

Prior to hosting his talk show Jerry got elected to The Cincinnati City Council in 1971 and then became the Mayor of Cincinnati in 1977. “After being mayor, I was offered the job to anchor the news for the NBC affiliate in Cincinnati, and I did that for 10 years,” said Springer.
