Renowned rappers Meek Mill and Rick Ross, known for their dynamic collaboration, are set to honor another iconic duo from the basketball world. They are preparing to release a new single titled “Shaq & Kobe,” a tribute to the NBA Basketball Hall Of Fame inductees.
Meek shared the official cover art for the upcoming track on his official X (previously known as Twitter) page and revealed the inspiration behind the song. He expressed his admiration for Kobe Bryant and Shaquille O’Neal, stating that he drew motivation and ambition from them as he didn’t have a father figure in his life.
In 2021, Meek’s admiration for Bryant was tested when Vanessa Bryant, the late athlete’s widow, criticized him for lyrics she deemed insensitive. In an unreleased track with rapper Lil Baby, Meek referenced Bryant’s tragic helicopter crash. He has since apologized to the Bryant family and it is expected that this new song will be respectful.
Meek Mill is associated with Warner Music, while Uproxx operates as an independent subsidiary of Warner Music Group.
