Raphael Saadiq, a member of the ’80s band Tony! Toni! Toné!, is preparing for a reunion tour and a new album. In an interview with Vulture, Saadiq shared that the album will likely be released after the tour. Interestingly, he also revealed that a song originally intended for the band’s album was ultimately given to Beyoncé.

The song in question is “Cuff It” from Beyoncé’s seventh album, Renaissance. Saadiq explained, “That record was going to be a Tonyies record. But I gave it to a friend of mine and suggested Beyoncé. She’s one of those artists who, if she likes it, she goes all in. I told her it would resonate with people and it would work. From what I understand, The-Dream eventually discovered it and was intrigued. I always believed that the right music can make an artist shine, but I’m glad she has such a large audience. You can’t fool people, the music has to be good.”

“Cuff It” has since become a favorite among Beyoncé’s fans, earning a Grammy Award for Best R&B Performance earlier this year. It has also gained popularity on TikTok, inspiring dance challenges and accumulating streams that have pushed it to No. 6 on the Billboard Hot 100.
