In 2023, the iconic Wu-Tang Clan will celebrate the 30th anniversary of their debut album, “Enter The Wu-Tang (36 Chambers)”. To commemorate this milestone, the group’s leader, RZA, has planned a series of shows at New York’s Gramercy Theatre. These performances will transform the rap recording, which is heavily influenced by kung-fu, into a full-blown symphony.
Given that the original album incorporated elements from various sources such as ’70s soul records and classical compositions, this transformation seems fitting. Other rappers like Nas have previously reimagined their groundbreaking works in a similar manner. Earlier this year, RZA produced a ballet titled “36 Chambers Of Shaolin And A Ballet Through Mud”.
The symphony shows are scheduled for November 7th, 8th, and 9th. Tickets will be available for purchase starting from Friday, September 8th at 10 am. More information can be found here.
In addition to these shows, the Wu-Tang Clan will also embark on the next leg of their North American tour with De La Soul and Nas. The tour will kick off on Friday, September 15th at Madison Square Garden. The full schedule for the tour is as follows:
