Tory Lanez, the Canadian rapper, has been moved to state prison to begin his 10-year sentence, nine months after being convicted of shooting Megan Thee Stallion. This comes six weeks after his sentencing. A new mugshot of Lanez, looking disheveled and unhappy, has been released by TMZ.

In 2020, Megan Thee Stallion accused Lanez of shooting her in the backs of her feet following an argument after a party in the Hollywood Hills. Despite Lanez’s claims of innocence, he did not provide an alternative explanation for the incident, implying but never directly stating that Megan was shot by her friend Kelsey Harris during a dispute over him.

Lanez’s defense was unsuccessful in providing a convincing explanation for Megan’s injuries, leading the jury to find him guilty of assault. In fact, one of the key witnesses for his defense essentially confirmed that Lanez was the shooter, despite apparent coaching beforehand.

Despite efforts by Tory’s team to secure a new trial, their appeals were rejected. They later sought a more lenient sentence for the rapper, but the judge decided that his behavior prior to the trial merited a harsher penalty.
